Virginia Rail (starting the hard work)

Image

Virginia Rail. It’s time to stop messing around with base colors and start tackling that complex back pattern. The interesting thing about that is the dark-centered feathers begin small and bead-like on the neck, gradually lengthening as they move in waves toward the tail. The strokes all follow a gentle curve, radiating out from a central line along the entire body…. I’m just laying in the ground work now and will return later with more defined lines.
